What does the spread mean for pick'em?
The spread is the number of points the favorite is expected to win by. In a straight-up pool it is only a guide. In an against-the-spread pool the favorite must win by more than the spread for that pick to count.
When do picks lock in Week 1?
Most pools lock each game at its own kickoff, so Thursday picks lock first and Monday picks last. Check your pool rules, because some commissioners lock the whole week before the first Sunday game.
